Ash Wednesday is the first day of the holy season of Lent, a 40-day period of prayer, fasting and almsgiving in preparation of Easter. This day is marked by receiving ashes of on the forehead. The ashes are an outward sign of our repentance and a symbol of our mortality in that we came from dust and will return to it.

Diocese has requested a collection for Aidee to the Church of Central and Eastern Europe on Ash Wednesday.
